Building a Legacy

We are very proud of our decades of experience, and we are also proud of having maintained independence from larger firms throughout this time whilst still continuing to grow.

The History of Bright Grahame Murray

Our journey began in 1934 with a clear purpose: to help clients make the most of opportunities available to them, a vision deeply understood by our founders, Leo Grahame and Sydney Bright. For 90 years, these guiding principles have fuelled our growth and continue to shape our future.

This philosophy underpins our comprehensive range of services, characterised by Partner-led support and a reputation for excellence.

The Firm was originally known as Bright Grahame & Co., operating from two rooms at 88 Fenchurch Street, EC3, across from Aldgate Pump. During the War years, the Firm continued to grow despite sustaining damage from fire bombs on several occasions.

In 1947, we renamed the Firm to Bright Grahame Murray & Co., a name that remained until 1985 when it was shortened to Bright Grahame Murray, commonly referred to as BGM.

Since our establishment in 1934, BGM has weathered pandemics, wars, and major global economic downturns, including the Great Depression and the Great Recession, along with numerous national recessions.

We have witnessed the rise and fall of European colonialism and the emergence of new nations. BGM’s resilience and unwavering commitment to serving clients with integrity has enabled us to navigate these challenges.

Over the decades, BGM has been a stable and resilient entity. Our diverse business portfolio, technological expertise, and forward-thinking approach have provided the foundation for the Firm to adapt and help clients transform adversity into opportunity.

In today’s uncertain times, BGM continues to focus on and prioritise client needs and the well-being of our staff.

Together, we will overcome current challenges and help our clients and the organisation emerge stronger.
